Happy Saturday Friends.
This week I have been working on my stash of things I shared with you a couple of weeks ago. You can read that here.
I have been working on the candlesticks this week. They were black and I wanted them white.
I decided to use chalk paint after cleaning the candlesticks up.
I love to use Rust-oleum Linen White. You can get it on Amazon or your big box stores like Home Depot.
Here is the before.
I had found these at Goodwill. Kind of pricey but I loved them.
Here they are in between coats of paint, upside down and drying. I used my paint sprayer on these as well. If you haven’t used one before, you should try it. It will change the world, lol.
I don’t have a garage, so if I spray paint, I have to wait when there is no wind and have to do it outside.
Side Note: Funny, not so funny. I have a spray tent and used it in my craft room a couple of months ago painting another project I haven’t posted yet. Anyway, finished my project after a couple of days. Put everything away, happy with my finished project. Went into my craft room like a day later and looked down at my floor and wondered why it looked different. I had overspray on almost every part of my new flooring. 🙁 I wasn’t sure it would come off but with a lot of elbow grease, it did.
I tried using my spray shelter outside on a windy day but it just kept blowing over. We get really strong winds here. So now if I spray, I have to do it like at 5 am in the morning when it usually isn’t windy or extremely hot.
Ok. After painting and letting them dry, I distressed them.
I think they turned out wonderful!
I wanted to seal them with wax but didn’t have any clear wax. After going to Walmart one day, I bought Waverly clear wax. I followed their directions but look what happened.
And it only happened to one of them. The other two are fine! Has this happened to you?
And the other two are blotchy! Maybe as the wax hardens, it will go away.
So I do not have a final pic of all three because one is being repainted as we speak.
Hopefully, it will not come through again.
I love how they look distressed and I’m hoping that this third one will turn out the same. We shall see.
Have you ever worked with Waverly wax and if so, has this happened to you?
Until next Saturday, have a great weekend!
PS: Looking at the pics of the black candlesticks, I can see a brownish hue to them. Maybe that is what is coming through on the one candlestick but why not all three. And after painting the third one again, I see brown coming through so I will have to do something different with this one or redo all of them.
Next week I hope to have this one to share with you. And since I can’t find a before pic, this one will have to do.
