Happy Saturday, friends!
I have a fun project to share with you today. It’s fast and easy.
A beautiful metal music stand!
I found it on one of my trips to Goodwill when things started to open up around here. You can read my awesome finds in this post.
I have always loved ornate music stands and wanted to find one for my daughter when she played in Band. Funny thing is, I never found one until years later.
I know most of you would not paint this beautiful stand but I saw it in white. So, like I always do, I painted it with chalk paint!
One of my least favorite things to do is sand. That is why I love chalk paint. Even better, it comes in a spray can, which makes this project 10 times easier. You don’t have brush strokes but you do have to watch for paint drips. Take it slow and make several lite passes with your spray can so it doesn’t drip.
I had to use a spray shelter (this is the setup I have) for this project because most of the time it is windy here. Windy enough that my shelter wouldn’t stay up!
I brought it into my craft room to spray paint it with Rust-oleum chalk paint in Linen White.

Before I get too ahead of myself, I gave this a good cleaning. You can see by the closeup that it was dirty. A little dawn dish soap, water, a few q-tips, and rags, I had it clean in no time. After letting it dry, I gave it several coats of paint and I think the end result is fabulous!
It is much easier to spray paint than using a paintbrush on a project like this. BUT, if you spray inside, make sure you lay down a large sheet or towels to cover your floor. Especially if it is a nice floor, lol. Ask me why I know this!
The funny thing is, I didn’t even notice the overspray until two days later. Walking into the room I noticed my floor had a white overcast to it. Didn’t take me long to figure out why 🙁
I had to get down on my hands and knees to clean it off the floors, but it did come off! Finally.
This is more of a showpiece than a working piece but use a spray sealer in a matt finish to protect the paint from coming off.
I really love how it turned out.
Please don’t mind the yellow light socket.
I thought about distressing it but I’m unsure of what to do! What do you think? Yes, No?
On a side note: The book that is on the music stand (which is way too big for it) is an old songbook I found at a thrift store years ago. It is old and beautiful. Inside it says the year 1913! Over a hundred years old. Again, Beautiful!
Here is a closer look.
What do you think? Isn’t it AMAZING!
Would you have painted it or left it the brass color?
Distressed it or left it alone?

PS. Update on my foot: Doc said it is looking great! He didn’t have to take an x-ray, saying it didn’t look as bad as originally thought to be and no need to amputate. He told me I needed to keep the weight off still and to get a knee scooter! Thank you for all of your prayers!
