Updated Chandelier

 

This year I have started working on getting my clutter cleaned up.

 

Now that my foot is healed and I am able to move, I am spending every waking moment enjoying my mobility.

 

I have decided that I need to clean up my wonderful junk, lol. Making decisions to clean up and get rid of things is hard, very hard. I am the type of person who sees junk and will keep it, knowing that someday I can use it or make it into something else. Does anyone else have that problem?

 

It drives my husband crazy and it causes a lot of storage problems too!

 

So this year I decided to tidy things up and get rid of things I may never use or haven’t used in years.

 

It’s a hard job for a person like myself but I am working on it.

 

So, let’s get to my project, lol.

 

I was going through some things and found this lovely in a box. I had bought it at a yard sale or Goodwill lots of years ago and kept it around because maybe it would come in handy.

 

Can you guess what I did with it?

 

I will give you a minute.

Ok, Can’t wait any longer. Can you imagine it on the end of a chandelier?

 

That is what I did with it.

I couldn’t remember what paint I used for the chandelier (nobody has time to go back and read the story to find out what paint they used, lol). So I decided to use Rust-oleum Chalk paint in Linen White and Falling Snow by Behr. (if you do read the post about the shandy you will find I used a completely different color then the two I used on this metal piece). Oh well.

 

I wanted to make sure the paint stuck to it. After cleaning it real good I used a mix of chalk paint with the Behr paint. It worked great. I also didn’t want it to have complete coverage of paint so it would match the lamp base itself.

I used Gorilla construction adhesive around the inside rim for a permanent hold and a few dabs of hot glue to hold it into place temporarily. 

 

As you can see, I held it into place with a toilet paper roll. (that’s all I had that would fit, lol).

Doesn’t the color look close to the gray?

I let it sit overnight to make sure it held in place, painted it with the same color mix over the edge where I ran hot glue and voila, it looks amazing. It really pulls the whole chandelier together. 

 

I ordered crystal pieces off of Amazon to add to the shandy and can’t wait to put them up. It will look amazing!

 

The shandy is no longer electric and I need to order a few battery-operated candles to place inside the glass globes What a difference with that one little metal piece made.

You never know when your junk pile will come in handy, lol.

This chandelier was destined to be sold or donated but after finding the perfect place for it and the metal end, I couldn’t let it go.

PS. Please don’t mind the drone my husband got for Christmas. His favorite place to place it is on my hutch! 🙁

Adding the crystals!

I used a combination of crystals I bought off of Amazon. To connect them, I needed a jump ring that could go over the arm of the lamp. I couldn’t find what I needed, so my husband came up with earring hoops, lol!
It works.

I love it!
