Diy Mini cupcake stand

Hello Everybody.

 

I have an adorable little cupcake stand that I made out of repurposed items. 

materials needed

• bowl/domed lid
• candle holder/small plate
• candlestick
• E6000 or similar glue

Years ago my mom went to a thrift store in her area and bought what I think was a glass candle holder for me. It could be a lid to something. It says Made in Taiwan.

Then, years later, I bought a tiny cover/dome lid at Goodwill, it had gone with something else but again, only the lid remained. It was a perfect fit for the candle holder.

A few weeks ago I was shopping at Goodwill and came across a candlestick I liked. (try to make sure you have a flat top to the candlestick, there is more surface area to hold the plate, and will stay in place a lot better when drying).

I received the bottom glass candle holder/lid for free, the dome lid was .99 cents and the candlestick was .99 cents!

I finally had all the components to make a little cupcake stand for $1.98. Our local Safeway has them here for $24.99 so I think this is a substantial savings!

 

Let’s put them together

 

This is so simple. Start by cleaning your glass pieces really well.

Take your candlestick and apply E6000 to the top of the piece, leaving a little space in between to use hot glue.

Apply hot glue in between the E6000. This will give it instant adhesion so your glass candle holder doesn’t slide.

It took me a couple of times to do this just for the fact that my hot glue would go into the E6000 and my glass wouldn’t stick. I would have to wipe it all off and do it again. So it might take a few tries to get it down.

I let mine dry overnight.

The next day I noticed that the hot glue and the E6000 had left milky white dots on the candlestick and you could see it through the glass bottom.

That bugged me, so to solve the problem, I used a rose transfer I had in my stash and placed it on the inside of the candle holder. Problem solved. 

The transfer is from IOD and it is called Painterly Florals. The whole book of transfers looks painted.

 

 

If you do place a mini cupcake inside (that is all the room you will have, lol) you can just wipe it clean with a damp cloth. It is also a great mini display for a little bird or nest or both.

A fast and simple DIY. So cute. Fits in with any decor! The best part, it is all repurposed and you can always find these items at yard sales and thrift stores.
