First, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers! I have finally got a clean bill of health from my doctors, YAY!!
Ok, I wanted to share with you a project I just finished. It’s easy, fairly fast and so darn cute! I found it on Hometalk and here is her here to her blog in case you want to download her gingerbread template. It requires very few items and you may have them on hand.
The person I copied them from made it with cardboard but I also saw some made with brown paper bags. This person also took the time to cut the windows out but I did not do that.
These are so fun to make, you will want to make a bunch like I did.
So lets get started.
Supply List:
- Cardboard
- Paint or paint pen
- Fine tip paint brush if using paint
- Box knife
- String (for the garland)
- Small clothspins
- Cutting board or matt.
After I downloaded the templates, I printed them onto a piece of paper, then I cut them out. There are 6 different houses. I think two fit per 8 x 11 sheet of paper.

You will need a couple of boxes, depending on how many you make.
You probably won’t need this many boxes, I was getting rid of most of these, lol.
Take your piece of paper with the template on it and trace the outside of your house onto your cardboard or paper bag.
Once copied onto the cardboard, cut the cardboard out. I used a utility knife and scissors. It was pretty easy for me. If you make it with paper bags, it will be easier.
You will want a cutting board you don’t mind cutting into or a sealing matt. Otherwise you will ruin whatever your project is on.
I made three sets of six. I drew the pictures of her houses on mine to start with but then just winged it and made my own windows and doors and embellishments. It was so fun.
If you don’t know where to start, you can look on Pinterest or the internet and google gingerbread houses. So many ideas will pop up. You won’t have any problem finding something you like.
You can come up with your own patterns also. Make a whole town.
I used white paint for the outlines, windows, doors, etc. but you could use a paint pen or a chalk paint pen. This is just what I had on hand.
How adorable! You really can’t mess up but if you do, you can make another one, lol.
As I said, I made three sets. I was able to make two garlands and used six as ornaments that went on my Christmas tree. Again, so fun and easy. It just adds a little extra!
And look how cute they look hung up as a garland.
Like I said before, this person cut the windows out! I thought that that was to much work so I left it like you see them above.
I just hung them up with mini clothes pins after the paint was dry.

I did just that, tucked them into the branches. Didn’t need string!

And here is our Christmas tree for 2021.
I made the Snowflake Tree Topper, the tree has a light pink garland and a white strand of single chained yarn for another garland to add more texture. I have our collection of Nutcrackers and a santa on the side and an old cooler that stores cookie cutters inside.
