Hey friends, happy Tuesday.
Tuesday is recipe day but instead of a recipe, it is a how-to post.
I am sure most everyone knows how to make bacon bits but if you don’t, these are so much better than store-bought and takes just a fraction of time to make.
Let’s get started.
First, you need a package of bacon, I know, captain obvious, lol. You can use any kind of bacon for this, it all works well. Thick or thin.
I usually cut up the whole package but you can use the amount you want.
I start by cutting the slab of bacon in half like the pic below.
Make sure your knife is really sharp and it will make this a breeze to cut.
I start cutting it into pieces, maybe a 1/4″ and if you leave your bacon all together like the pic above and cut it the opposite of lengthwise, (can’t come up with a term for this, lol) it will turn out perfect.
Don’t worry, when the bacon starts to cook it will eventually turn into looking like bacon bits.
This is what it looks like after it is cut.
A hot mess, lol.
Let your pan heat up nice and hot on medium heat, before you add your bacon. This helps it to not stick (as bad).
See how it cooks up real nice!
I think this is easier than frying all of your bacon in strips and then chopping it up but if that’s your jam, go for it!
Your very own bacon bits that taste like bacon, not imitation!
Use them on baked potatoes, in scrambled eggs, omelets, hashbrowns, potato soup, salads, pizza, in meatloaf, in mac & cheese, and on and on!
Give it a try and see how easy it is!
See you Friday!

Makes my life easier! Thanks for stopping by!
Love this idea and simple solution Cheryl! It’s a lot easier than I thought it would be so I’m super excited to try your technique. My family loves bacon bits so I’m sure this is going to be a home run. Hugs, CoCo
It is easier!! Just make sure your knife is very sharp and then it is super easy!
