Hey Friends,
Today is another recipe Tuesday!! And boy, is this the best steak I’ve ever fixed! It is delicious and tender and so so good!
Just to let you know, I will continue recipes on Tuesday because my family is eating different things than me BUT I will be adding what I am doing as well as far as eating and my journey with the Healthy Lifestyle change. I think I will be adding it on Fridays. So stay tuned!
Back to the best steak in the world, lol. At least to me and my family!
Things you will need:
You want a good quality steak. I would suggest Fillet mignon but we usually use top sirlion prime. Another thing that makes a huge difference is to set the steaks out and let them come to room temp before you cook them.
Season them with salt and pepper, that is all you need, trust me.
You will need oil for coating the steaks and I would suggest an oil that won’t smoke, like peanut oil. I use vegetable oil and it still smokes, a lot. We are dealing with very high temps. I would also suggest a cast iron pan. You will be putting them into a 500 degree oven. Adding butter or garlic butter if you prefer. In today’s recipe, I’m using butter but garlic butter is delicious as well.
#1 Steak Recipe
Equipment
- Cast iron pan
Ingredients
- 2 Steaks Filet Mignon or great quality steak
- Oil Peanut
- Salt & Pepper Amount desired
- Butter Amount desired
Instructions
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and bring them to room temperature. Place your cast iron skillet in the cold oven and pre-heat it to 500 degrees. Rub your steaks with oil. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Once the oven has reached 500 degrees remove the skillet and place it on a burner set at high heat. Let the skillet set for 3-4 minutes. Once the skillet is ready, place the steaks in the middle of the hot, dry skillet.Let it sear for 3-4 minutes without touching! Then flip and sear the other side. (You are going for a very well-seared brown crust). It will look black and burned but it isn't.Place the skillet back in the oven at 500 degrees. For medium, allow steaks to cook for an additional four minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 140 - 145 degrees.(Adjust time by one to two minutes less for rare or more for well done).Remove the steaks, place on platter and add the butter (if using) to each steak. Allow steaks to rest for 5 minutes. (I like to use garlic butter, butter and or sauteed mushrooms).Enjoy!!
