Happy Saturday Everybody.
Today I have another cute cow picture to share with you. She is adorable.
It started with a Youtube tutorial I had watched that made me want to make my own cow picture. So many people have beautiful bovine pictures and I wanted to create one also! Mine is more whimsical!
After making my first one, which my daughter fell in love with and wanted, I decided to make another one but bigger. You can see the first one I made here.
I had a leftover piece of plywood from a failed project that I thought would be an excellent canvas. The background was already painted and so I basically freehanded the cow face. I wanted a white cow this time, with a black nose shape.
This is the board I used.
When starting this project, I decided to paint the top where the transfer would go. I painted it white thinking it would show the transfer better! However, after doing so, I regretted it. This led me to add more colors around the transfer.
Not only did I add more color but decided to add in wording I had leftover from other pieces of transfers. It helped twofold. It filled in the open spaces that were so prevalent before and it gave it texture.
It took me a while to get it the way I envisioned it but I think I achieved a cute look. I love adding words to my pieces, whether it is a painting or furniture.
Here are a few pieces I have done with word transfers. I think it just elevates a piece. Here and here.
To finish this cutie off, I added trim to the top. I first painted it a light gray color (which looks more white) then just splotched on 3 different colors here and there to make it look like the rest of the picture.
The nice thing about this picture is that I had everything on hand except the trim piece, and the plywood itself was already painted. Total cost, $8.
What do you think?
Do you like the white cow or should I have stayed black?
I’m thinking of tracing the outline of the face with a black sharpie! It might highlight the face more.
******UPDATE******
I decided to outline her face, do you like? Let me know!
Sorry about the lighting, my natural light was fading fast.
I had some D hooks from another project that I used for the back to hang it with.
Friends, I am running out of room to hang my art, lol. I’m going to have to start selling it!
Have a great day and think you so much for stopping by! It’s time to go to a few yard sales. 😉
If you like this picture, please support me by saving and telling other people about my blog, and have a safe and wonderful day!!
